As a huge Almut Heise fan, I am very excited about this event, the launch of Almut Heise's catalogue raisonné, edited by Marie-Catherine Vogt, and a conversation with the artist herself and Kito Nedo. For more information click this post below.
CCA Berlin Center for Contemporary Arts
Rene Matić AS OPPOSED TO THE TRUTH
Where: Breitscheidplatz
Opening times: Until February 15 2025 / Tue – Sa 11AM–6PM
I highly recommend you to visit the CCA's new location - the institution has moved into the foyer of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on Breitscheidplatz, designed by Egon Eiermann. Entering this space is like literally taking a break from the hustle and bustle outside in the middle of the Kudamm in West Berlin.
The current exhibition presents British artist Rene Matić's first institutional solo show in Germany - AS OPPOSED TO THE TRUTH. Matić's artistic practice encompasses photography, film, sculpture and poetry, and often explores how social dynamics of race, gender and class manifest themselves in intimate relationships. Something that can definitely be experienced and felt in the installation and curation of the space.

Poetry and Sound Session at migas - with Pia Chakraverti-Würthwein
Where: migas, Lindower Str 19
When: December 11th at 8PM
My dear close friend and former colleague started curating and co-hosting a format on the intersection of poetry and sound at the listening bar migas in Wedding a few months ago. I attended the last session where she invited Eryn Warner Honeycutt, founder of Cutt Press, and enjoyed a wonderful evening that was a meditative experience between listening and hearing different elements of sound and poetry.
For the fifth session of the monthly series on poetry and sound Pia is excited to invite Liz Rosenfeld for an exploration of desire and cruising. Liz will perform a work of autotheory, an essay they wrote inspired by decades of cruising as a form of fucking, politics, and artistic practice.
Liz Rosenfeld is a Berlin based transdisciplinary artist who works with performance, moving images, drawing and experimental writing practices. Their first auto- theoretical book, " Crossings: Creative Ecologies of Cruising," co- written with Professor João Florêncio will be published by Rutgers University Press in 2025.
Pia Chakraverti-Würthwein is a curator and writer based in Berlin. She previously worked at Esther Schipper as an Artist Liaison, and before that was a freelance curator on projects with Fondazione Prada, Slavs and Tatars, and SAVVY Contemporary, among others.
Hopscotch Reading Room
Where: Kurfürstenstr. 13-14 (Backyard)
Opening times: Tue-Sat 1-7PM
My go-to bookstore and sometimes lunchtime hideaway, the Hopscotch Reading Room in a backyard off Kurfürstenstrasse. Siddhartha Lokanandi founded Hopscotch in 2018 and has been running the space with Erin Honeycutt ever since. An English-language bookstore with a focus on anti-colonial, non-western, diasporic and queer perspectives - in case you need some valuable gifts this Christmas.
And here some shortcuts of my must-see list:
Nan Goldin at Neue Nationalgalerie
Sähkö Recordings (on 06.12.) & Christopher Roth (on 14.12.) at Esther Schipper
